Rivalries of The Visionaries

Across the sea of time that spans over the last two centuries a handful of rivalries have appeared and changed the course of global history and the direction of what we today call ‘progress’. “Rivalries that changed the world” is a module focused on pairs of rivals such as Tesla and Edison, or Gates and Jobs, or the highly contemporary Musk and Bezos, looking at the innovative pursuits of whom the learners gather so much more than just a thrilling narrative in history.

“The great fights with your strongest rivals are always the biggest motivation. When you win easily it’s not the same taste.”
– Valentino Rossi

The proposed details of the online sessions are :

  • WEEK 1 : THE WAR OF CURRENTS- EDISON VS TESLA
  • WEEK 2 : WAR OF ENGINES – FORD Vs  FERRARI
  • WEEK 3: SPACE RACE- KOROLEV vs VON BRAUN
  • WEEK 4 : ADVENT OF PERSONAL COMPUTERS: JOBS vs GATES
  • WEEK 5 : THE NEW SPACE RACE – MUSK vs BEZOS

The learners engage in a wild goose chase to understand what fuels rivalry when it comes to innovative ideas, they analyse the historical context of industrialisation, the cold war and the rise of new missile technology, the aspiration of the few to colonise Mars, and it hardly stops there. The learners soon begin supporting one or the other great innovator and delve deep into the story of their lives in order to find where is it that inspiration resides.
Among the many fundamental skills such as research and presentation, team work and narrative building, the learners begin to realise that at the heart of all great change is the struggle to make one’s dreams comes true and to revolutionise the way humanity leads it life!
